A project engineer by day, Ron Bogert of Brown City, MI enjoys tackling challenges and trying different things. His strong entrepreneurial attitude led Ron to Epilog Laser when he began looking for a business opportunity to pursue after retirement. Read on to learn how Ron learned about and compared several laser systems and determined Epilog to be the right choice for him. While he hasn't retired yet, Ron keeps busy on his Epilog system creating beautiful and personalized projects for friends and family.
The Challenge: Creating a custom clock.
Ron is certain of the business he'll be in once retirement day comes around, but like most of us, for now anyway, he's still working. As milestone anniversary gifts, Ron's company gives employees a choice between a clock or a watch. A particular co-worker celebrating her tenth anniversary and, knowing Ron had a laser engraving system, asked him to create an intricate clock that would match a cherished family heirloom.
The Solution:
Taking on the custom challenge with the laser was exciting for Ron, and he carefully laid out the project so that the design utilized the entire 24-inch by 12-inch work area of his laser. Using walnut planks, he cut out each piece for the clock and created a beautiful piece for his coworker.
Ron purchased his laser system from Steve Hovest of Airway Laser in Findley, Ohio, and describes Steve as very helpful through the entire buying process. Ron tells us he would recommend an Epilog laser system to anyone without hesitation.
“I actually did quite a bit of investigating into laser systems prior to my purchase,” Ron said. “I subscribed to several trade publications, such as A&E and Engravers Journal, to see who the players were before making my purchase. We also attended an awards and recognition show in Cleveland so I could compare all the providers in the same place,” said Ron.
Ron felt that he was getting more laser for his money when he was chose Epilog.
“Other companies offered options like air assist and cutting tables, whereas with the Epilog system they were all standard features,” he said. After speaking with several people at Epilog, he felt that the company had a superior product - they even offered to send him a laser to try out.
The feature that Ron likes most about the Epilog laser is the ease of use and reliability. When he did run into a problem on the laser, “the technical support people responded within 24 hours and were able to walk me through the process on the phone,” Ron said.
Ron looks forward to creating more exciting projects with his laser system. He currently uses his laser to make name tags, license plates, custom signs, personalized pen sets, and much more.
