We used a 75-watt Legend 36EXT with the following settings: 85% speed, 100% power.
Draw a vector box around the design, turn on the red dot pointer and run only the vector job with the lid open to ensure your engraving is in the right place.
Since the agate slices are each uniquely-shaped, we recommend using the Center-Center option in the Epilog Laser Dashboard. To do this place your object anywhere on the table, turn on your Red Dot Pointer, disable your XY axis and move the laser head to the area you want to engrave. This will be your new home position.
Once satisfied with the placement of the engraving, send the job to the laser and you're all set!
NOTE: Because they are organic items, you'll notice some agate slices may have a naturally occurring cracking and/or fragmentations (see image to the right). Unfortunately these have a negative impact on the engraving quality, so we recommend avoiding those for etching purposes. .
